Hayman Co. was appointed receiver of a 2,990-unit apartment portfolio owned by troubled operator National Commercial Ventures of Long Beach, Calif. The receivership assignment is one of the largest yet for an apartment portfolio. Foreclosure proceedings have begun on the portfolio, which contains 20 properties in seven states, including California, Texas and Georgia. Midland Loan Services, the special servicer of the portfolio's $180 million securitized mortgage, hasn't yet decided to market the properties, although such an offering appears likely. Hayman is based in Troy, Mich.
